Vickery Reserve Watervale riesling
Colour: Pale straw with with green hues.
Aroma: Very powerful aromatics due to the heat of the season. Full flavours of lemon curd and brown lime.
Palate: Intense flavours of lime, lemon zest and marmalade with racy acidity and a long finish.
Cellaring: Made to age, this Riesling will last in the cellar for 15+ years.
From the 2020 vintage, a small parcel from the Castine “Hayshed” block stood out for its unique character and potential for ageing and was kept separate from the main Watervale blend. The ‘Hayshed Block’ has east-west row orientation and a gentle west facing aspect. The vineyard sits at approximately 420m above sea level from top to bottom. Even with a dry winter 2018 was a great Watervale vintage with excellent quality, and the Hayshed block produced wine of exceptional purity and finesse allowing for extended ageing and a late release.

The Real Review
Light yellow colour, youthful for its age, and a superbly fresh and aromatic nose of fresh-cut flowers, lemon juice and pith, honey and citrus blossoms, the palate super-fine and delicate in its structure but marvellously intense in flavour, the acidity perfectly balanced and the finish very long and seamless, with perfect line. The finish is very dry and has a whisper of tannin assisting the dryness. A delicious wine, and one that should continue to age superbly.
