Claymore Blackbird sangiovese
This small batch, single site release of Clare Valley Sangiovese is all pretty red berries, leather and spice. A delicious lighter red wine style, we love this at table and paired with North African flavours – think Moroccan fish tagine or chicken braised with pomegranate molasses.
COLOUR: Vibrant ruby red
BOUQUET: The aromatics are lifted and appealing; juicy cherry, plumb and Christmas spice and lots of those pretty Sangi light red berry fruits.
PALATE: A wonderfully bright and balanced, light weight red wine showing elegant, soft tannins develop in the mouth with hints of rich wet earthy forest floor. There is a deceptive and intriguing succulence to this wine, with a mouth coating structure. We note an almost strawberry cream element to the red fruit profile with licks of fresh tobacco and Italian leather. Lingering cherry and red berries develop on the pallet with interest and depth provided by integrated tannins with a Christmas spice.
